TouchPoll, Inc. was originally founded in 1976 as United Research (UR), which created the very first mechanical opinion research machine, and later developed the first chip-driven polling center which was featured in the Knoxville World's Fair. In 1984, the company name changed to Special Events Research (SER) to better reflect the nature of most of its work, and soon created the first portable computerized polling system. In 1989, SER introduced the world's first interactive touch screen opinion collection equipment. The company is now TouchPoll headquarted in Winter Park, Fl.
