About Us
Company History
TouchPoll, Inc. was originally founded in 1976 as United Research by Mike Shurtleff. In its infancy, the company created the very first mechanical opinion research machine that measured customer attitudes (later to be miniaturized, and renamed).
1982
In 1982, the first chip-driven polling center was developed by UR and featured in the Knoxville World’s Fair.
1984 - 1985
In 1984, the name of the company was changed to Special Events Research to better reflect the nature of most of its work. In 1985, we created the first portable computerized polling system…years ahead of our competitors.
1989
In 1989, SER introduced the world’s first interactive touchscreen opinion collection equipment, which became the standard by which all technology research was measured. TouchPoll was owned by SER, and, eventually, it became the parent company.
Current
TouchPoll is a world wide organization of independent TouchPoll distributors. No matter where in the world you are, Touchpoll can provide service to your event, conference, trade show, research project, or location.
Today's Technology
TouchPoll utilizes the most sophisticated technology available. Its unique software, recently rewritten in the latest platforms (XML and Java), enables its clients to collect data seamlessly among most of the latest “next generation” hardware and software offered in the new century. This means that communications among wireless equipment, stand-alone PC’s and other technology will become the standard in our business—other touchscreen competitors, of which there are only a few, have software platforms written in languages that are quickly becoming outdated, such as Turbo Pascal, FoxPro, C++ and others. TouchPoll is the first to move far ahead and offer an automated system that requires very little training to operate, yet is so advanced that its underlying new language has only been learned by computer science experts in universities and major corporations’ information technology departments. As one international client recently suggested, “Using your systems, our president will be able to watch, real-time, the changing opinions of our customers while vacationing in Paris."
TouchPoll is confident that this entrance into the world’s elite cutting-edge software arena will provide its dealers and end-users a considerable advantage when promoting its products and services to the masses, and its clients will greatly benefit from its versatility.
